This research examines how digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI) tools are being implemented in the national libraries of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, specifically looking at their relationship with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The research used content analysis for six websites of national libraries in GCC countries; Kuwait National Library, Qatar National Library, Isa Cultural Centre in Bahrain, National Records and Archives Authority in Oman, King Fahad National Library in Saudi Arabia, National Library and Archives in the UAE. The results revealed different levels of efforts across countries, with Qatar and Saudi Arabia showing significant progress in this area. However, it is recognized that the majority of nations understand the significance of technological transformation. The main emphasis is on providing electronic resources to reduce the use of paper, support renewable energy, and improve access to top-notch educational materials, all in line with SDG 4 (Quality Education). Furthermore, AI tools are seen to improve inclusivity by offering features specifically designed for people with disabilities and providing services like chatbots. The research highlights the significance of accurately portraying digital transformation projects on library websites and stresses the importance of enhancing efforts in this aspect throughout GCC nations. This study represents the initial effort to examine digital transformation and AI integration through the lens of SDGs in the national libraries of GCC countries, providing a glimpse into the present situation and potential for future growth.
